My friend Donna in Atlanta, who is also wishing spring would just hurry up and get here, sent me this pic and I just had to share it with you. This is a friend of Donna’s pet rat Annabell modeling her new spring outfit. (Click for enlargement) Just. Too. Cute.
UPDATE: Annabell needs your vote. Check Donna’s comment below.

Aw, so cute! The hat is too much, lol! I never thought a rat could wear a hat. You learn something new everyday, I guess!

You and all your friends MUST VOTE for Annabell the rat – you can only vote once per e-mail address and only in 1 box so vote for # 20 the last entry in the first box – ANNABELL the RAT. http://www.masondixonknitting.com

So cute I have a pet rat and I have wanted a hat for her where did she get the hat?

oh my – what a lovely lady Annabel is to let someone dress her up…she must be quite a patient rat. My two rats, Harriet and Eloise, wouldn’t last two seconds in a hat! Love this picture!

Pardon me, but the rat in the picture isn’t alive… It is a taxidermy or stuffing of a dead rat. You can tell by the colourless (supposed to be pink) nose and feet, and oh I don’t know, the fact that the tail and feet aren’t planted on the ground? Also, living
rats cannot bend/lift their tails in the way the rat in the picture is.
Clever satire with the outfit, yet sickening at the same time.

This comment is correct. I have studied animal husbandry and specialised in fancy rats for over ten years; the rat in this photograph is not alive. Many live rats do tolerate being costumed though.

so cute!!! If I ever get a rat maybe I’ll try to dress her up.

It is a stuffed rat, as in taxidermy. It is a real rat but dead and stuffed. Missy, you have problems perhaps blindness?? If you have a rat I would be very surprised if they could possibly sit like that especially in the open!

My mom said that I couldn’t dress up my rats. And it would mighty hard to get them to go willingly into one of those.

Does anybody know where I can get a pattern for this or at least close to it? I am a new knitter and my brother has a rat that would look so cute in it! Thank you! :3
