Spring Decorating

Spring is just around the corner, you can feel it in the air and see the buds on trees all around our East Dallas neighborhood. Even the redbud tree outside my studio is participating in the blooming.

Squirrels

The latest addition to my woodland critter line of pillows are squirrels. There must be a million squirrels in our yard every day. I catch them even sneaking on the porch and eating cat food since they can’t get into my squirrel buster bird feeder. (The best bird feeder ever- click here for info.) So of course I had to draw some squirrels and turn them into pillows. Go see them, they’re waiting for you. Bring nuts!

Time Flies

I really didn’t mean to go this long without updating my blog. Life truly does get in the way sometimes.

I’ve been busy selling lots of catnip snakes (thank you) and making more to keep up with orders.

My llama pillows were selected to appear in a juried art show and were purchased there. (Thank you).

Also I’m working on new wildlife critter pillows that will be on the way to my Etsy shop soon.

Lastly, the saddest was that our dog Mickey died from old age. He was blind, deaf, almost lame but hung in there until his body just couldn’t go anymore. He was adopted as a young adult dog and we guess his age at passing was about 16 years. He is missed.

I will try to pause and take time to keep you updated on what I’m making, doing and finding interesting these days. Thanks for reading.

ART214

art214 notification

I have been meaning to post this, but life kept getting in the way. So here it is. I am proud to have one of my pieces included in this show at the South Dallas Cultural Center now through April 28.cat lick paw multi color batik.jpg

“As part of Dallas Arts Month, four cultural centers of the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) facilities, are hosting a multi-venue juried exhibition to showcase the works of artists who live in Dallas and the greater North Texas region from late March to early June.

Through this exhibition, OCA hopes to discover and develop relationships with new artists, provide opportunities for artists to exhibit their work for the first time ever or for the first time in one of our cultural centers, and cross pollinate artists who have previously exhibited at one cultural center by exhibiting their work at a different center. Another goal of this collaborative project is to draw in new audiences who have never been to (or even heard of) our Cultural Centers and to share audiences who frequent a specific center but have never experienced the others.”
