Spring Green Bunnies

In this time of isolation and fear, I remain at work in my studio creating items that bring smiles and joy. It’s the only way I can exist without succumbing to depression and worry. Perhaps one of these spring green bunny pillows can help you stay sane in these troubled times. They’re available in my etsy shop if you’d like one.
Take care. Stay home. Stay healthy. Wash those hands. Hug a bunny.

Spring Decorating

Spring is just around the corner, you can feel it in the air and see the buds on trees all around our East Dallas neighborhood. Even the redbud tree outside my studio is participating in the blooming.

Valentine’s Day

The last time I checked in here, Thanksgiving and Christmas were upon us. Then I woke up Thanksgiving with a nasty head cold than merged with allergies and I spent the next month plus mostly in bed and sick, sick, sick.

So now it’s almost Valentine’s Day. I managed to make some special edition catnip snake cat toys so that your cats don’t feel left out come February 14.

Click here to grab one for your felines before they sell out.

Gato Kahlo

I spent a lot of time in September creating my Day of the Dead textile feline homage to Frida Kahlo. I drew the lines on new floral fabric, sewed and stuffed the body, sewed vintage silk flowers to her head, sewed a skirt of new striped fabric for her to wear, sewed a new velvet fabric cloak for her shoulders, crocheted a belt to cinch her waist¬†and assembled a necklace from pieces of my jewelry stash. I think she’s wonderful. She’s available now in my etsy shop if you’d like to share your home with this fabulous Gato Kahlo.gato kahlo front small

Cat Couples

I think that there’s nothing cuter than cat couples, two cats hugging or grooming each other. Living with five indoor cats I get to see that occasionally. I treasure every sighting. I decided I needed to capture that cuteness as a series of cat couple pillows. They’re available to you now in my etsy shop. Enjoy.

Squirrels

The latest addition to my woodland critter line of pillows are squirrels. There must be a million squirrels in our yard every day. I catch them even sneaking on the porch and eating cat food since they can’t get into my squirrel buster bird feeder. (The best bird feeder ever-¬†click here for info.) So of course I had to draw some squirrels and turn them into pillows. Go see them, they’re waiting for you. Bring nuts!

Wildlife Pillows

We keep a bowl of cat crunchies on our front porch to feed the feral kitties. The word is out and we often see possums and raccoons partaking of our offerings. I have taken photos through the front window of their dinner dates. My latest pillow creations are of these visitors. Here they are for you to view and hopefully enjoy. This possum has been sold but the raccoons are ready for re-homing now in my etsy shop. More possums and raccoons soon to come and perhaps a squirrel or two.

Time Flies

I really didn’t mean to go this long without updating my blog. Life truly does get in the way sometimes.

I’ve been busy selling lots of catnip snakes (thank you) and making more to keep up with orders.

My llama pillows were selected to appear in a juried art show and were purchased there. (Thank you).

Also I’m working on new wildlife critter pillows that will be on the way to my Etsy shop soon.

Lastly, the saddest was that our dog Mickey died from old age. He was blind, deaf, almost lame but hung in there until his body just couldn’t go anymore. He was adopted as a young adult dog and we guess his age at passing was about 16 years. He is missed.

I will try to pause and take time to keep you updated on what I’m making, doing and finding interesting these days. Thanks for reading.

Holiday Shopping

Consider visiting my and other small shops this holiday season instead of the usual big box store. You’ll be bringing smiles to both the recipient of your gift and the small shop owner. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
