My Crocheted Cotton Throw

I finally finished that bright colored throw I started crocheting months ago. This is the first throw I have ever made. I have crocheted plenty of 3-D stuffed animals but never a flat blanket. I love how it came out. Our youngest Bella is also quite fond of it. I hope it meets your approval as well.

Spring Green Bunnies

In this time of isolation and fear, I remain at work in my studio creating items that bring smiles and joy. It’s the only way I can exist without succumbing to depression and worry. Perhaps one of these spring green bunny pillows can help you stay sane in these troubled times. They’re available in my etsy shop if you’d like one.
Take care. Stay home. Stay healthy. Wash those hands. Hug a bunny.

Crocheting Again

It seems like forever since I have crocheted. I think a year has passed since I picked up a hook. It may have been the many days of grey skies and rain that triggered my need to feel yarn in my fingers again. It definitely was the grey days that made me pick up the brightest yarn colors in my stash and start to make myself a cotton throw.

Gato Kahlo

I spent a lot of time in September creating my Day of the Dead textile feline homage to Frida Kahlo. I drew the lines on new floral fabric, sewed and stuffed the body, sewed vintage silk flowers to her head, sewed a skirt of new striped fabric for her to wear, sewed a new velvet fabric cloak for her shoulders, crocheted a belt to cinch her waist and assembled a necklace from pieces of my jewelry stash. I think she’s wonderful. She’s available now in my etsy shop if you’d like to share your home with this fabulous Gato Kahlo.gato kahlo front small

Squirrels

The latest addition to my woodland critter line of pillows are squirrels. There must be a million squirrels in our yard every day. I catch them even sneaking on the porch and eating cat food since they can’t get into my squirrel buster bird feeder. (The best bird feeder ever- click here for info.) So of course I had to draw some squirrels and turn them into pillows. Go see them, they’re waiting for you. Bring nuts!

Time Flies

I really didn’t mean to go this long without updating my blog. Life truly does get in the way sometimes.

I’ve been busy selling lots of catnip snakes (thank you) and making more to keep up with orders.

My llama pillows were selected to appear in a juried art show and were purchased there. (Thank you).

Also I’m working on new wildlife critter pillows that will be on the way to my Etsy shop soon.

Lastly, the saddest was that our dog Mickey died from old age. He was blind, deaf, almost lame but hung in there until his body just couldn’t go anymore. He was adopted as a young adult dog and we guess his age at passing was about 16 years. He is missed.

I will try to pause and take time to keep you updated on what I’m making, doing and finding interesting these days. Thanks for reading.

Holiday Shopping

Consider visiting my and other small shops this holiday season instead of the usual big box store. You’ll be bringing smiles to both the recipient of your gift and the small shop owner. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
