youngstownI’m from Youngstown, Ohio. Or more accurately, Boardman, a suburb of Youngstown. My grandparents, both sets, lived in Youngstown. My dad worked for the Youngstown Vindicator. So I say I’m from Youngstown. It is easier than trying to explain Boardman.

I got an email from my sister who lives in New Middletown, Ohio, another suburb of Youngstown. Someone forwarded to her some scans of an old accordion type postcard folio of Youngstown. I love these kinds of postcards. Not really photos, not really paintings, sort of a mash up of both. I have posted the scans to my Flickr page and you can click here to see them.

If you are interested in knowing more about Youngstown, ask away. I’ll tell you what I know.

And while we’re on the subject of Youngstown, you did know that Bruce Springsteen wrote a song about my hometown, didn’t you?
