Witchy Hands
I just got the new Lion Brand Yarn newsletter and immediately wished I knew how to knit. I love these gloves. They would be so fun to wear all winter, just for the heck of it. Click on the picture to be taken to the free pattern, but if you haven’t signed up before on Lion Brand Yarn‘s website, you’ll have to sign up now to get the pattern. Enjoy.

Teapot Ronnie
A recent Facebook post of a Gertrude Stein ceramic mug photo by Allee Willis reminded me of my prized possession, the Ronald Reagan teapot by the Hall China Company. I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio which is not that far from East Liverpool where the Hall China Company is located. My mother was a frequent visitor to the Hall outlet. One year when I was back in Youngstown for a visit, I spied Ronnie up on a shelf in the basement. He has been with me ever since then. Don’t you just love him?
The Plush Team Does Vegas!
You may know that I am a member of the fabulous Plush Team. Our July/August challenge was Plush Vegas and team members have been busily preparing pieces to compete in the following three categories:

Comic Crochet
Recently in the Dallas Morning News comic section, the strip “Pickles” has been on a crochet theme. I don’t think I’ve ever seen crocheting as a topic in the comic section before. I thought I’d share these strips for those of you who don’t have “Pickles” in their daily newspaper. Click on the strip to see an enlarged version.
Which of you crocheters reading this will be the first to crochet a jockstrap? I can’t wait to see the photos. Enjoy.
2009 Calendar
I found the perfect calendar for 2009. I already have it and can barely wait for the new year to get here. It is the work of Chet Phillips, illustrator extraordinaire who happens to live in Dallas. I’ve never met him, just admired his work.
His style of illustration is very cool with a humorous twist and the fact that it is digitally created really speaks to me. Plus he loves critters and most of his work features critters. You know I like that.
I not only appreciate his talent and sense of humor, but his skill with Painter software. Every time I try to use my Painter software I get frustrated and head back to the comfort of Illustrator and/or Photoshop. But back to Chet, his calendars and other cool stuff are available at Cafe Press and he also has an Etsy shop filled with his prints, cards and even pillows. Lots of temptations. (more…)
Cute…or Crazy?
I have been studying Craigslist pet section searching for a new playmate for Mickey. He really misses Maggie. They used to wrestle together, run together, cause trouble together. Monty will tussle a little with Mick, but Monty is really a gentle soul, not a rough and tumble type like Mickey.
As I was perusing the pets section the other night I ran across this posting. DELIGHTFUL DOGGIE DRESSES. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Were they serious? Do people really dress their dogs in dresses? I must be out of the loop again. So of course I clicked on the posting and this is what I found: (more…)
Wigs
I needed a laugh and the Dallas Observer blog Unfair Park provided it this morning. Kitty wigs. The creator/inventor is from the Dallas area. Where else? Here’s the blog post. I think this is the craziest thing I’ve seen in a while or I’m just in the mood to laugh after crying for so many days. I followed this link on Unfair Park to Cute Overload which I frequently visit when I need a smile. Can’t be depressed or in a bad mood after a visit there. (more…)
