FREE RUG
WE HAVE A WINNER!
Thanks to everyone who entered, I loved reading where you would use this fabulous rug. Very inspirational. I should have thought about hanging it up so the cats couldn’t get to it.
The winner was picked using the list randomizer from random.org. And the lucky future owner of this very cool rug is:
Congratulations jenny s-g, I hope your new rug looks marvelous in your craft room and chases all the beige blah-ness away. (more…)

Big Mouth Cat Shoes!
I have been enjoying myself lately by playing around with Zazzle.com’s customizable Keds shoes.
Have you seen this yet? You upload your own images and have sneakers made exactly as you want. Very cool. Of course, they’re not cheap. But still…
Of course I had to try this. I have made two versions of my big mouth cat graphic available as shoes that anyone can purchase. Click on the shoe photo to be whisked to Zazzle for more details.

Word Art
I was avoiding working today at the day job, perusing some blogs and read about Wordle. How did I miss this cool site? In case you’re like me and have never heard of it, Wordle is a fun but addictive site where you can make your very own word clouds. Word art. You type in the text or paste in some text or do what I did and plug in the link to the RSS feed for this blog and voila, you have word art! The site provides random action or you can fine tune the details. I liked the serendipity of random and like these two versions of my feed. Warning, though, Wordle is a time waster, but in an artistic and even scientific way. Have fun!

Cool Studio Tour
If you happen to be in Dallas Saturday, or if you’re lucky enough to live here, there’s a great studio tour you shouldn’t miss. The Cedars Open Studios is located near Old City Park or whatever its called now, Southside on Lamar and the Convention Center.
The studios are mostly in industrial buildings that look unexciting on the outside but once you enter, amazement abounds. When I went on the tour the year before last, the most fun part was the means of transport to carry you from building to building. The studios are spread apart and rather than try to walk or wastefully drive, stop, drive, stop…the Cedars Association had “MOG” transport available for free. I don’t know what MOG stands for I just know that when I went, the MOG was flatbed trailers filled with hay, literally a South Dallas urban hayride that slowly carried you to the studios. It was so much fun! And the artists are absolutely inspirational. Visit the website and do try to partake if you are indeed lucky and in Dallas on Saturday.

Almost
Well, sometimes my plans just don’t work out. I was making a ghost cat and ghost dog out of felt and when I completed them, I just didn’t like the way they looked. My drawings looked better. I was using an inexpensive felt. Perhaps I should invest in the wool felt for my next felt attempt. No picture, I couldn’t bring myself to capture my disappointment. I completed the crocheted dog I was working on, him I like. But the photos I shot last night, those I don’t like. (more…)

Our House
Well since I mentioned the dining room I thought I should post a few pics. The colors I painted this room were chosen because they were cheap, bright and available. I always cruise the “oops” paint whenever I’m in a hardware store. The colors most people reject are the colors I love. And you can’t beat the price. I have learned not to get hung up on wanting a certain color, I just go with whatever is funky and cheap. Kind of describes my life. There are more pics here in another of my Flickr sets.

I collect Mexican folk art. I usually find it at estate sales. My dining room decor reflects my obsession. I sent my husband to an estate sale yesterday. I was slaving away at my computer at the day job and he was working from the home office and the sale happened to be right down the street. I spied in the ad in the newspaper that they were offering folk art. He came home with some wonderful Oaxacan wood pieces to add to the collection as well as an old ceramic casserole from Mexico and a yarn turtle. Oh, I almost forgot the wonderful framed Mola.
I need to shoot some pics of these great finds. I love estate sales.

decor8
I’m a big fan of the blog decor8. Its one of the blogs I regularly read and lust over. A couple of days ago I noticed that she was posting pictures of readers art collections: arty walls. So I had to send pics of my dining room and hallway which I think are both very arty and cool. There are more images of the hallway here in my Flickr set, go see what you think.
She posted the hall of postcards! I feel so lucky to have been blogged by Holly. Her blog rocks. Go visit decor8.
